This training is designed to give you an introduction to and basic overview of:

• The neurobiology of trauma

• The Polyvagal Theory of the nervous system

• Attachment and co-regulation in the context of Yoga

• Safety, body wisdom, autonomy and intuition in the context of trauma

• Developing a trauma-aware lens in your teaching and practice

• Creating client-led classes – unlearning the ‘do as I say’ model of teaching, and cultivating self empowerment for your students

• Mindfulness and meditation contraindications for trauma

• Language, cues, use of human contact in the context of trauma

Receive Credit for Professional Development and continuing education

Certified Yoga Teachers who complete the full 5o hours of curriculum will receive a Certificate of Completion that can be used towards continuing professional development hours with both Yoga Alliance and Yoga Australia..

  • I’ve been teaching Yoga for over 15 years and in that time have studied over 1000 hours of certified training with some of the worl'd’s best Yoga teachers including Leslie Kaminoff (Yoga Anatomy), Tiffany Cruikshank (Yoga and Chinese Medicine), Polly Realf (Iyengar Yoga) , Christopher Wallis (Classical Tantra Yoga), Amanda Morley (Dynamic Hatha).

    My mindfulness training has included decades of studies and practice in both Yogic Meditation and Buddhist practices. I’ve also attended the Oxford University Mindfulness Summer School.

    To complement my Yoga Training I qualified as a Trauma Informed Psychotherapist in 2021 and have since completed further studies in Internal Family Systems Therapy including a return to Oxford to learn from the founder Richard Schwartz.

    Alongside my pursuit of Yoga, I trained as a scientist at university and gained a Masters in Sustainable Development which led me to a career in wildlife Conservation, Climate Change Adaptation and Humanitarian Response.

    It’s from this breath of personal experience and professional training that I deliver this 50 hour training. I have a deep understanding of what it can cost to work in a profession or calling that can cost you mentally and emotionally if you’re not taking care of yourself too.

    With my interdisciplinary skills I have the ability to make complex concepts digestible enough to understand, simple to apply to daily life and fun to learn!

    I can’t wait to begin this learning journey for you. I’m confident it will change your life and prepare you for a lifetime of supporting others to change their lives for the better too.

  • This course is designed to be done in person or online.

    If joining in person there’s approximately 40 hours of class time and 10 hour self-study.

  • No. This course is open to anyone keen to understand trauma informed principles for leadership and facilitation.

    However, much of the content will have a Yogic lens.

    If you’re already a qualified 200 hour or more Yoga Teacher, this course can be used as credit towards your continuing professional development with Yoga Australia and Yoga Alliance.
